Bangladesh faces a daunting task after losing four wickets before bad light brought an early end to Day 3 of the first Test against India at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday.

Chasing a massive target of 515 runs, Bangladesh reached 158-4 at stumps, still requiring 357 runs to win.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Bangladesh skipper, remains unbeaten on 51 off 60 deliveries, including four boundaries and three sixes, fighting a lone battle alongside Shakib Al Hasan, who is on 5 not out.

India's Ravichandran Ashwin was the standout bowler, taking three key wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah picked up one.

Earlier in the day, India declared their second innings at 287-4, following superb centuries from Shubman Gill (119*) and Rishabh Pant (109 off 128 balls). Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets, including the dismissal of Pant, but the Indian batting line-up put Bangladesh under immense pressure.

Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan (33) and Shadman Islam (35) gave a solid start with a 62-run partnership but couldn’t capitalize on their promising knocks. Mominul Haque (13) was bowled by Ashwin, while Mushfiqur Rahim (13) was brilliantly caught by KL Rahul at mid-on off the same bowler.

With just six wickets in hand and two days left to play, Bangladesh’s chances of chasing down the remaining 357 runs appear slim, as India looks poised to claim victory.
