Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics at International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) Dr. Golam Rasul has been honored as one of the top 2 percent of scientists globally in 2024.
This prestigious recognition, published by Stanford University and Elsevier Science, is based on a thorough evaluation of publications, citations, and overall scientific impact.
Dr. Rasul joined IUBAT in 2022 after serving as Chief Economist at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development. Prior to that, he served over 15 years to Bangladesh’s Civil Service, where he developed a keen interest in research.
The scientist's research portfolio encompasses a wide range of areas, including agriculture, food security, rural development, poverty alleviation and environmental management. He has pioneered innovative solutions to tackle complex real-life challenges, including access to food, water, energy, and climate change adaptation.
Rasul has authored approximately 200 papers published in prestigious international journals, including World Development, Agricultural Systems, Food Security, Climate Policy, Water Policy, Climate and Development, Environmental Science & Policy, Journal of Environmental Management and Frontiers in Public Health, among others.
His research findings have been incorporated into numerous national and global policy documents.
Beyond academic and research accomplishments, Dr. Rasul actively contributes to national and international policy debates and his opinions have been featured in various newspapers worldwide.
Dr. Rasul holds a B.Sc. (Honors) and M.Sc. in Economics from Jahangirnagar University, and a Ph.D. from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.
