Wet outfield ruins day 3 of Bangladesh-India Test

Day three of Kanpur Test between Bangladesh and India has been called off due to a wet outfield, despite no rain since the morning.

The persistent wetness of the outfield made it impossible to resume play, following a complete washout on day two. The start of the match had also been delayed due to rain and wet conditions.

Bangladeshi media, reporting from Kanpur, expressed surprise over the decision, especially since there had been no rain since morning, and less than half an hour after the announcement, the sun appeared over Kanpur.

Bangladesh came into this match looking to prove their mettle against India in Test cricket, having previously defeated Pakistan in Pakistan in a historic two-match series — their first-ever Test series win over Pakistan.

Prior to the Kanpur Test, Bangladesh faced India in Chennai, where they lost by 280 runs after a poor batting display, collapsing for 149 runs in the first innings and never recovering.

Following the Test series, Bangladesh and India will face off in a three-match T20 series.
