Sri Lanka secured their biggest-ever Test win over New Zealand on Sunday, defeating the visitors by an innings and 154 runs in the second Test in Galle to seal a 2-0 series sweep.
New Zealand, after being dismissed for 88 in response to Sri Lanka's first-innings total of 602-5 declared, were bowled out for 360 in their second innings after being forced to follow on.
Despite half-centuries from Glenn Phillips (78), Devon Conway (61), Tom Blundell (60), and Mitchell Santner (67), New Zealand couldn't prevent Sri Lanka from clinching a comprehensive victory without needing to bat again.
Sri Lankan spinners Nishan Peiris (6-170) and Prabath Jayasuriya (3-139) starred with the ball, ensuring a dominant display for the hosts.
Kamindu Mendis, who scored an unbeaten 182 to help Sri Lanka post their massive total, was named player of the match.
Left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya earned the player of the series award for his remarkable haul of 18 wickets across the two matches.
