The much-anticipated two-match Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa is set to proceed as scheduled, following a comprehensive security evaluation by Cricket South Africa (CSA) experts.
A statement from CSA on Monday confirmed that the tour received approval after an "in-loco inspection" conducted by the board's operations manager, team security manager, safety and security consultant, and a representative from the South African Cricketers' Association. These officials visited Bangladesh last week and submitted their recommendations to the board based on their findings.
"Cricket South Africa and the Bangladesh Cricket Board can confirm the two-match Test series scheduled to start on 21 October will go ahead," Cricket South Africa said in a press release.
"A security assessment was recently conducted by CSA's Operations Manager, Team Security Manager, Safety and Security Consultant, and a representative of the South African Cricketers' Association. CSA has given the series a go-ahead based on the recommendations made by the team post an in-loco inspection visit to Bangladesh."
South Africa's squad is expected to arrive in Dhaka on 16 October, with the team announcement anticipated later today.
The Bangladesh vs South Africa Test series had been under scrutiny due to concerns about safety, but after a meticulous inspection by a CSA security delegation, the tour is now set to proceed as planned.
The last Test series between South Africa and Bangladesh took place in South Africa from March to April 2022. Meanwhile, South Africa's white-ball teams are currently competing in the UAE against Ireland.
