Ctg Tribunal declares BNP leader Dr Shahadat port city Mayor

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 1: The Election Tribunal in Chattogram declared former BNP city unit president Dr Shahadat Hossain as the mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) after three and a half years of the Election.

The court gave the verdict in a case filed by him seeking cancellation of 2021 election results against nine persons including Rezaul Karim Chowdhury.

Election Tribunal Judge and Joint District and Session's Judge Mohammad Khairul Amin delivered the verdict on Tuesday noon.

The court also directed the Election Commission Secretary to publish a gazette within next 10 days.

Dr Shahadat Hossain filed the case seeking cancellation of the CCC election results, which declared Awami League nominated candidate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury as the winner.

Dr Shahdat, former BNP nominated mayoral candidate of CCC election filed the case on February 24, 2021 alleging widespread electoral fraud and rigging in the polls.
