Poor buyers throng makeshift markets of warm clothes at Bagha

RAJSHAHI, Dec 21: With severe cold in the region, poor people of Bagha upazila here regularly throng different markets, particularly makeshift markets, to buy warm clothes.
Meanwhile, most of the buyers are thronging the makeshift markets which were arranged on the footpaths in different places of the upazila headquarters and villages.
Besides, the warm clothe sellers at different markets including Bagha Bazar and Arani Market started selling different warm clothe items in this winter. The items mostly include sweater, coat, jacket, blazer, mufflers, gloves and hats. The sale at the markets is rising day by day with the increase of cold, sources said.
While talking to The Daily Observer, Nasir Uddin, owner of Nupur Garments located at Bulbul Super Market of Arani Municipality, said, "We have already started selling warm clothes with the advent of winter. Our customers are mostly people from low-income groups who cannot afford to buy the warm clothes from posh markets at high prices."
 He further said, "We are selling per piece girls' sweater at Tk 100 to 500, boys' sweater at Tk 100 to 1,000, jacket at Tk 250 to 1,500, baby sweater at Tk 100 to 600, gloves at Tk 30 to 150, hat at Tk 40 to 100, and muffler at Tk 50 to 250."
 Amirul Islam, owner of Biswarupa Traders at Arani Bazar, said, "We sell different qualities of blankets, and the sale has already increased. We are selling per piece blanket at Tk 100 to 5,000 according to qualities. We hope that the sale will further increase in the upcoming days."
