The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee have jointly called for greater national unity to repeal, what they said, "pro-Mujib Constitution of 1972 and remove President Mohammed Shahabuddin from his post."

It was stated by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement convener Hasnat Abdullah and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee convener Nasir Uddin Patwary while addressing a press conference held at Central Shaheed Minar premises in the capital at about 7:00pm on Wednesday (October 23).

Nasir Uddin Patwary said if any political party does not join their unity, they will exclude them and build up unity in cooperation with people. Then they will take to the street to resolve the matter against fascism.

"We can still see the autocrats at Bangabhaban. We call for this unity for the greater interest of the country and people," he said.

Hasnat Abdullah said, "We seek the unity of pro-democratic political parties. The five points announced by us will turn into a revolutation for the democracy-loving people of Bangladesh."
