Bangladesh women's cricket team is set to leverage their home advantage as they face Ireland in a three-match ODI series starting Wednesday.

Despite Irelands historic resilience, Bangladeshs familiarity with subcontinental conditions and superior spin attack positions them as strong favorites in the upcoming games.

This series marks Ireland Womens first bilateral tour to Bangladesh. Out of five previous encounters between the teams, Bangladesh has won two, lost one, with two no-results. However, playing on spin-friendly Mirpur wickets is expected to tilt the odds heavily in favor of the home team.

Known for their slow and turning tracks, Mirpur's conditions are notoriously challenging for teams from outside the subcontinent. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty highlighted this advantage in the pre-series press conference.

"Irelands victories have mostly been in their home conditions. They lack experience here and historically struggle against spin. Playing at home gives us a distinct edge, and we aim to capitalize on that," Joty said.

Bangladesh's squad features a versatile spin arsenal, including off-spinners, left-arm spinners, and leg-spinners, designed to exploit Irelands weaknesses.

While Bangladesh boasts a strong bowling lineup, inconsistencies in the batting department remain a challenge. Joty called on senior batters like Fargana Hoque Pinky, Murshida Khatun, and Sharmin Akhter Supta to shoulder more responsibility.

"Batting has been a weak link for us. We cant always rely on the middle-order to recover from top-order collapses. Our senior players must lead from the front to ensure a solid start," Joty emphasized.

With six valuable points up for grabs, this series is more than just a bilateral contest for Bangladesh. A strong performance would not only boost their confidence but also solidify their standing in the ODI circuit.

Despite Bangladeshs clear edge, Joty cautioned against complacency: Theres no room for taking Ireland lightly. Every match in this series is crucial, and we aim to play with authority.

The first ODI will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with Bangladesh looking to set the tone for the series and assert their dominance.
