Rangpur correspondent for 'The Daily Observer' Laboni Yeasmin, has been selected as one of the recipients of the prestigious Best News Award 2024.
The announcement was made on Sunday (December 15) by Ahmed Abu Zafar, Chairman of the Trustee Board of Bangladesh Local Journalists Forum, ahead of the organization�s 8th Victory Parade and Reunion.
The jury panel has named ten journalists for their exceptional contributions to journalism and their dedication to serving the public interest. These professionals have consistently highlighted issues of corruption, irregularities, and societal challenges in their respective regions.
The winners were selected based on a thorough evaluation of their journalistic contributions. The awards will be presented during a grand ceremony at the Cox's Bazar Cultural Center on December 22-23, as part of the Victory Parade and Reunion event organized by the Bangladesh Local Journalists Forum.
In addition to the Best News Awards, the event will honor 11 veteran journalists with the 'Jugoratna Journalist Award' for their decades-long contributions to the profession. Furthermore, the program will include the 'Ratan Sarkar Memorial Award' for exemplary journalism, educational scholarships for the children of journalists, and posthumous recognition for three journalists who lost their lives while on duty.
This initiative aims to inspire journalists to continue their commitment to public service and play a crucial role in promoting accountability and transparency in society.
