Two minor sisters drowned in a pond at Chandina upazila of Cumilla on Tuesday.

The victims, 3-year-old Samia Akter and her 1.5-year-old sister Hamida Aktar, were the daughters of Sujan Mia, a CNG-run autorickshaw driver from Maijkhar Purbo Para village.
According to family members and locals, the two sisters were playing near the bank of a pond when they accidentally fell in. Both of them drowned in the water. Their bodies were discovered floating in the pond around noon.

The family rushed them to the upazila health complex, where doctors pronounced them dead. Their uncle, Khokan Mia, confirmed the tragic loss.

Chandina Police Station officer-in-charge Md Nazmul Huda confirmed the deaths.
