S Alam Group reopens 9 factories in Ctg

S Alam Group has decided to resume operations at nine factories in Chattogram that were abruptly closed on December 24. 

A notice signed by Mohammad Borhan Uddin, the group's head of human resources and administration, confirmed the reopening decision, which will take effect on January 1.  

The announcement to withdraw the closure notice came on Tuesday evening, but the group has not provided any explanation for the sudden closure and reopening of the factories. Despite efforts, officials from S Alam Group declined to comment on the matter.  

The nine factories set to reopen include S Alam Refined Sugar Industries Ltd, S Alam Power Plant Ltd, S Alam Cold Rolled Steel Ltd, S Alam Power Generation Ltd, Infiniti CR Strips Industries Ltd, Chemon Ispat Ltd, S Alam Bag Ltd, and S Alam Steel Ltd.  

The closures had initially sparked protests among workers, who demanded explanations and presented a 10-point list of grievances. They had threatened further action if their demands were not addressed by January 7. However, the reopening decision seems to have temporarily alleviated tensions, though the reasons behind the abrupt decisions remain unclear.  

This development brings relief to thousands of workers and associated industries, as the factories play a significant role in the region�s economy.
