Two individuals, including a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist, were killed in a road accident at Kamalnagar upazila in Laxmipur district.

The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Hafizia area on the Ramgati-Lakshmipur regional road when they were returning home after participating in a rally marking the 46th founding anniversary of JCD.

The deceased were identified as Md. Nahidul Islam, 25, a JCD activist and resident of Charjogbondhu area in Saheberhat union, and Rashid Jamal, 65, a resident of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila who had recently come to Kamalnagar to visit his son-in-law's house.
According to reports, Kamalnagar Upazila Chhatra Dal organized a colorful rally in Hazirhat Bazar to commemorate the organization's founding anniversary. Activists and supporters from nine unions and various units of the upazila participated.

After the rally, Nahidul was returning to his area on a motorcycle. Around 2:30 PM, near the scene of the accident, he lost control of the motorcycle, hitting pedestrian Rashid Jamal. Both suffered severe injuries as the motorcycle skidded onto the road.

Locals rushed them to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Nahid dead on arrival. Rashid, in critical condition, was referred to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Confirming the incident, Kamalnagar Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Touhidul Islam said, "The bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. Necessary actions are being taken in connection with the incident."
