Three people were killed and five others injured in two separate road accidents in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila on Wednesday.

The incidents occurred in the morning on Ruposhi-Kanchan road at Hatabo Jelepra area of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Ram Das, 70, son of late Falan Das, and Ebadullah, 70, son of late Golam Rahman, both residents of Hatabo Atlashpur area, and Hridoy, 27, from Natun Bazar area.

In the first incident, Ram Das and Ebadullah were purchasing fish from local fishermen on the footpath around 9:00 AM when a speeding private car lost control and veered onto them, killing both instantly.

Three other pedestrians—Abu Taher, Radhamon, and Swarbosor—were critically injured and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

In a separate accident earlier that morning, three youths—Hridoy, Munna, and Shanto—were riding a motorcycle back to Dhaka after drinking raw date palm sap in Rupganj. Around 7:00 AM, their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding brick-laden trolley near Jelepra. Hridoy died at the scene, while Munna and Shanto were seriously injured and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Bhulta Police Outpost sub-inspector Jahirul Islam confirmed the incidents and stated, "Three individuals were killed in two separate road accidents. Both the private car driver and the trolley driver have been detained. The vehicles involved have been seized, and legal action is being taken."
