Two individuals were killed and 15 others injured when a bus overturned at Mahadevpur upazila in Naogaon district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 12 PM on Wednesday at Khunti Mor on the Mahadevpur-Nazipur Regional Highway.
The deceased were identified as Mosharraf Hossain, 42, the bus driver’s assistant and a resident of West Khapur village, and Aftab Uddin, 50, a health assistant at Mahadevpur Upazila Health Complex.
According to locals, the accident happened when a bus operated by Tanoy Paribahan, carrying 30 passengers, lost control while maneuvering to avoid a motorcycle that suddenly entered the highway from a side road. The bus veered off the road and overturned into a nearby ditch.
Mosharraf died on the spot, while Aftab succumbed to his injuries en route to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMC). At least 15 other passengers sustained serious injuries and were transported to Mahadevpur Upazila Health Complex, Naogaon General Hospital, and RMC for treatment.
Mahadevpur Police Station officer-in-charge Hashmat Ali confirmed the accident, stating that authorities have launched an investigation into the crash and efforts are underway to ensure appropriate action is taken.
