Police have arrested a woman and recovered a single-barrel gun along with stolen items during a raid related to a theft case at Lama upazila in Bandarban district.
The arrest took place on Sunday, following a complaint about a theft of a submersible pump and other equipment from a rubber plantation in Fasiakhali union of the upazila, confirmed police sources on Monday.
According to a press release issued by Lama Police, the incident began when a caretaker at Falgunilatex Rubber Plantation, reported a theft incident of a submersible pump and control box from the plantation's office premises. In response, the officer-in-charge of Lama Police informed the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bandarban District, who directed swift action.
Later, sub-inspector (SI) Jamil Ahmed from Kumari Police Outpost, along with a team, launched an investigation and raided the house of a suspect, Nurul Amin. However, Nurul Amin fled upon sensing police presence. During the raid, the prime suspect's wife, Baby Akter, 35, was found at the house.
A search of the premises, conducted in the presence of witnesses, led to the recovery of the stolen submersible pump, control box, and other items. Additionally, Baby Akter disclosed the location of a single-barrel gun, which was subsequently seized. She was arrested on the spot.
Two separate cases were filed in connection with the incident.
