The Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) held its biennial general meeting on Sunday in Chattogram city.
The event, presided over by senior journalist Nausher Ali Khan, brought together members to discuss organizational progress, financial updates, and future plans.
The meeting began with a minute's silence to honor deceased journalists, followed by a welcome speech from CUJ President Tapan Chakraborty. General Secretary M Shamsul Islam presented a detailed report on the organization's activities, while Finance Secretary Md. Mujahidul Islam shared the financial statement for 2024, including the income and expenditure report.
Prominent attendees included BFUJ Vice-President Shahid Ul Alam, CUJ Election Steering Committee Chairman Moazzemul Haque, and several former CUJ presidents, including M Nasirul Haque, Mostak Ahmed, Ezaz Yusufi, and Mohammad Ali. Discussions also featured insights from Chattogram Press Club's former president Kalim Sarwar and other CUJ members such as Roksarul Islam, Mohammad Rubel Khan, and Shahriar Hasan.
Other key participants included CUJ Joint Secretary Saidul Islam, Organizing Secretary Md. Moharram Hossain, Publicity and Publication Secretary Sarwar Kamal, and representatives from various media units, including Suprobhat Bangladesh Unit Chief SM Ibrahim and TV Unit Chief Touhidul Alam.
The general meeting concluded with several significant resolutions, including unanimous approval of the organizational and financial reports for 2024. Notably, the meeting decided to hold the CUJ Executive Committee election on January 25, marking an important milestone for the organization's leadership transition.
