4 brick kilns fined Tk 6 lakh in Kurigram

A mobile court on Wednesday imposed fines on four brick kilns in Kurigram's Fulbari upazila for violating the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Regulation) Act, 2013 (Amended 2019). 

The operation was conducted jointly by Fulbari Upazila Administration and the Department of Environment and led by led by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Rehnuma Taranum, at around 11:30 AM on Wednesday. 

The fines were imposed as follows: KM Bricks received a penalty of 50,000 Taka, WAHS Bricks was fined 150,000 Taka, and AB Bricks and MS HS Bricks were both fined 200,000 Taka each. The operation was conducted in the presence of Rezaul Karim, Assistant Director of the Kurigram District Department of Environment.

The UNO Rehnuma Taranum later assured that such operations would continue as part of their ongoing efforts to protect the environment and control air pollution by cracking down on illegal brick kilns.
