Two teenagers were killed when their speeding bike lost control and crashed into a tree in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Friday.
The accident occurred around 10 AM on Friday near Durga Temple on the Gopinathpur-Kholghat regional road in Jalalabad union, confirmed SI Murad Hossain of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Maruf Sheikh, 14, son of Palash Sheikh, and Bandhan Fakir, 14, son of Bulbul Fakir, both from Ichakhali Dakshinpara village. Maruf was a student of Panchuria Alia Madrasa and Bandhan was a ninth-grader at Khalia United Academy.
According to eyewitnesses, the teenagers were riding a motorcycle at high speed on their way from Khalia to the Durga bazaar area. They lost control of the motorcycle which crashed into a roadside tree, leaving both severely injured.
"They were rushed to Gopalganj General Hospital where emergency physician Dr. Bichitra Kumar Biswas declared them dead," said SI Murad.
Following legal procedures, the bodies were handed over to their families.
