A young man, who was critically injured after being stabbed by a friend in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh, has succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The deceased was identified as SM Shahadat Hossain Joy, 19, was son of Awlad Hossain from Balipara village in Datter bazaar union.
Meanwhile, the accused, Sabbir Mia, 23, is a resident of Kaza village in the neighboring Langair union.
Pagla Police Station officer-in-charge Ferdous Alam confirmed the incident on Saturday, adding that the victim's family filed a formal complaint.
According to the victim's family members, on Wednesday afternoon, Sabbir called Joy out of his home to meet at the Moshakhali Bazaar area. During their interaction, an argument broke out, leading to Sabbir stabbing Joy and fleeing the scene.
Locals informed Joy's family who rushed him to the hospital. After battling for his life for two days, Joy passed away on Friday night.
OC Ferdous Alam said that the incident might be linked to disputes over dominance or other personal conflicts.
"A written complaint has been received, and a thorough investigation will be conducted to take appropriate legal action," he added.
