Police have recovered the mutilated body of a youth, whose nose and ears had been severed, from Shantiganj upazila in Sunamganj district on Sunday.
The body was discovered on Sunday morning in a paddy field at Ukargaon village under Shimulbak union of the upazila.
Following the recovery, police have detained three individuals for questioning regarding the incident.
According to local sources and police, Monir was last seen on Saturday evening when two acquaintances called him out of his house. When he did not return home overnight, family members and villagers started searching for him. On Sunday morning, they found his mutilated body in the paddy field.
Shantiganj Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Akram Ali confirmed the incident, saying, "We have sent the body to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. The motive behind this brutal murder remains unclear, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover the reasons and identify those responsible."
