BNP leader stabbed dead in Naogaon

A BNP leader from Naogaon's Porsha upazila was fatally stabbed to death on Tuesday during an altercation over a land dispute. 

The deceased was identified as Maidur Rahman, 40, served as the general secretary of Nitpur Union BNP and was an elected member of Ward No. 6 in Nitpur Union Parishad.

According to Porsha Police Station, the conflict involved Abdur Rahim, 57, his son Ismail Hossain, 30, and another individual named Barkulla, 25, all residents of Gopinatpur village. The incident occurred in the Ranshada area of Nitpur Union during a land measurement where the dispute escalated into violence. 

Maidur was stabbed during the confrontation and was rushed to Porsha Upazila Health Complex. However, the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead upon arrival. 

Maidur's brother, Hamidul, 35, was also injured in the altercation.

Porsha Police Station officer-in-charge Shahin Reza stated that Maidur's body has been sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. 

"Police have launched efforts to apprehend the suspects and a case is being prepared in connection with the incident," he added.
