The deaths of a young man and woman was reported at Gurudaspur upazila in Natore on the same day.

Locals said that Atiya Khatun, 28, wife of expatriate Muktar Hossain, attempted suicide by ingesting poison on the night of January 14. She was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where she passed away the following morning.
Upon learning of Atiya's death, her alleged lover, 18-year-old college student Rakibul Hasan, reportedly hanged himself at his home around 7:30 AM.

Locals alleged that Atiya and Rakibul were involved in a romantic relationship, which came to light recently. It is believed that Atiya's suicide was prompted by family pressure and disapproval.

Eventually, Rakibul, overwhelmed by grief, reportedly took his own life shortly after.

Gurudaspur Police Station officer-in-charge Golam Sarwar confirmed the deaths and stated that police have visited the scene and recovered the bodies for post-mortem examinations.

"We are investigating the matter to uncover any additional causes or underlying factors contributing to these tragic deaths," he added.
