Motorcyclist killed in Jashore road accident

A man was killed in a road accident when a covered van collided with his motorcycle on the Jashore-Narail road near Jhumjhumpur BGB camp in Jashore town on Thursday evening.

The deceased, identified as Ataur Mridha of Chandrapur village in Kalia upazila, Narail, was traveling to Jashore on his motorcycle when the accident occurred at around 6:30 pm.

According to Manjurul Mridha, a cousin of the victim, Ataur had left for Jashore shortly before the incident. 

Sub-inspector Wahiduzzaman of Kotwali Police Station reported that the van, owned by Sundarban Courier Service, was coming from the opposite direction and struck Ataur's motorcycle.

The collision caused Ataur to fall onto the road, resulting in his death on the spot. Police seized the vehicle, but the driver and helper fled the scene. 

The body was recovered and sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Authorities are investigating the incident.
