50 hurt in clash between two villages in Faridpur

At least 50 individuals, including four police personnel, were injured in a clash between the residents of two villages at Nagarkanda upazila in Faridpur district on Saturday.

The incident began following a longstanding dispute between Solitha and Mirakanda villages, which escalated after a waz mahfil at Solitha Madrasa on Friday night. Tensions arose when a youth from Mirakanda was beaten by locals from Solitha. The altercation reignited early Saturday morning around 9:00 AM, leading to a violent confrontation.  

Police were called to intervene and managed to bring the situation under control. However, in the process, four police officers, including Nagarkanda Police Station OC Md Sofar Ali, sustained injuries.  

According to Md Asaduzzaman, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Nagarkanda Circle), two of the injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, while eight received treatment at Nagarkanda Upazila Health Complex. The remaining victims were given primary medical care.  

Authorities are preparing to file a case and additional police forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further unrest. The situation remains under close observation to ensure peace between the two villages.
