Youth held in JU female dormitory

An outsider was detained from a dormitory, allocated for female students, of Jahangirnagar University (JU) in Savar early Sunday.

Ashraful Islam Parvez alias Jajabor, 31, of Agrabad village in Chattogram�s Dabolmuring upazila, was arrested from Nawab Faizunnesa Hall.

Later, he was handed over to police, confirmed a JU official.

According to the campus sources, Parvez along with a student of JU Drama and Dramatics department�s 52th batch, who also a resident of the same dormitory of the university, entered the hall at around 10:00 PM wearing saree and pretexting a female student of the university . However, the other residents of the hall caught him on suspicion and informed the hall authorities.

Being informed, a team of JU proctorial body went to the spot and detained Parvez at around 12:00 AM. Later, they handed him over to the police. 

Following the intrusion, the residential students of the hall staged a demonstration in front of the hall and chanted different slogans demanding punishment of the outsider involved in the incident. They also raised their voice for their protection.

Hall provost Professor Mohammad Jahangir Alam, said, �The both accused were handed over to police and legal actions would be taken in this regard.�
