Garment workers' protest in N’ganj

Workers from two garment factories of Narayanganj have staged a protest blocking roads, demanding reopening of closed factory and payment of all dues.

The workers held separate protests on Sunday afternoon. 

Among them, the group of protesters from Master Textile Garments hold their protest at Chasara Shahid Minar, demanding reopening of the closed factory and subsequently brought out a rally which ended at BKMEA�s head office.

Protesters alleged that they have demanded their earlier to get only excuses from the authorities. Instead of paying their dues of two months, the factory announced closure which enraged the workers.

Meanwhile, another group of protesters from RS Composite Garments blocked the Dhaka-Narayanganj old road at noon, protesting an assault of their co-worker, allegedly by another worker from Mother Color Garment factory. 

When the situation between the both factories intensified, army along administrative officials rushed there and brought the situation under control. The workers' later moved back after getting assurance of getting justice from the authorities.

Narayanganj Department of Inspection for Factory and Establishment's Deputy Inspector General Rajib Ghosh confirmed the incident.
