4-day tax fair begins in Bhola

A four-day long tax fair has been launched at Lalmohan upazila in Bhola district on Monday.

The event, with the theme, "The wheel of development is moving through municipal taxes, balanced services, and planned development", kicks off under the initiative of Lalmohan Municipality to encourage tax compliance among residents. 

The fair was officially opened on Monday morning at the Chaurastra intersection of Lalmonirhat town by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Municipal Administrator, Md. Shah Aziz. This is the first time such an initiative has been taken to collect overdue municipal taxes in the region.   

During his speech, Shah Aziz announced that citizens paying taxes during the fair will receive a 15% discount. Additionally, a free lucky coupon system will be available, with prizes awarded to seven participants. However, he warned that necessary actions would be taken against those who fail to pay their dues within the fair ends.

In addition to Md. Shah Aziz, Lalmonirhat Upazila Social Services Officer Md. Masud, Municipal Executive Officer Md. Arif Hossain, Administrative Officer Md. Sirajuddaula Nawab, Chief Tax Collector Farukul Islam Khokon, and the President of the Municipal Service Association Md. Afsar Uddin, along with various municipal officials and employees, were present at the opening ceremony.
