Juba Dal activist killed in Rajshahi road crash

An activist of Juba Dal was killed and another injured in a road accident at Paba upazila in Rajshahi district on Monday.

The accident took place at Ramchandrapur Bazaar in the upazila on Monday evening.

The deceased, Shahjahan Ali, 45, of Haripara village in the district's Durgapur upazila, was an active member of BNP's wing Juba Dal. Meanwhile, the injured is Shafikul, 46.

Locals said that Shafikul and Shahjahan were returning home after attending a district Jubo Dal meeting in Tero Khadia in Rajshahi, riding on a bike. On the way, a truck hit the motorcycle from the opposite direction, leaving the duo critically injured.

The victims were rescued and taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where Shahjahan succumbed to his injuries around 10:30 PM while undergoing treatment.

Mahbubur Rahman, president of Durgapur Zhaluka Union Jubo Dal, said, "We had come to Rajshahi city to attend the district Jubo Dal meeting. On our way back, Shahjahan Ali was killed in a road accident."
