Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian goods worth Tk 20 lakh from Boda upazila border area in Panchagarh district late Tuesday.
Nilphamari 56th BGB Battalion Commander Shiekh Mohammad Bodruddoza confirmed the seizour in a press briefing on Wednesday.
According to the source, being tipped-off, the BGB came to know that a huge consignment of goods, including drugs, will be smuggled through the India-Bangladesh border area. On the information, a patrol team from Dhamerghat BOP conducted a raid Amtali Kazipara Laheripara area, inside 100 yards from sub-pillar no1 of main pillar no. 771 of Bangladeshi teritorry. During the driver, the law enforcers seized 100 pieces of Indian saree, 14 lehengas, 12 three-pieces, three gowns, a pair of shoes.
However, no one had been detained during the raid and the estimated market value of the seized goods around Tk 20 lakh 10 thousand 500.
Meanwhile, Malkadanga BOP team, led by Habildar Jamal Sarker, conducted a drive in Bogduljhula Suerpar area and seized 19 bottles of liquor smuggled from India worth around Tk 28, 500, .
