AL leader held in Joypurhat

Detective Branch (DB) of police have detained a local Awami League (AL) leader and former mayor of Panchbibi municipality in Joypurhat district on Monday. 

Sadar upazila officer-in-charge (OC) Shahed Al Mamun confirmed the detention of the former mayor, Habibur Rahman Habib.

DB sources said that Habib made accused in a murder case during the recent student movement and went into hiding.

OC Shahed informed that locals of the capital�s Tejgaon Industrial Area apprehended the accused and handed him to the nearby police station. Later, DB sent him to the custody of Joypurhat Police Station. 

Habib has been produced before the court, the OC added.
