A local businessman shot to death and another sustained bullet wounds in an attack by a group of assailants at Raozan upazila in Chattogram district on Friday.
The incident occurred around 1:15 PM on Friday at Asad Ali Matubbar Para of the upazila.
The deceased, Jahangir Alam, 55, was the eldest son of late Abu Sayeed from Niramish Para in Noapara area. He was the owner of a Community Center in the upazila.
According to Jahangir's younger brother Didar and local witnesses, Jahangir was returning home after performing prayers on a motorcycle with his manager, Abbas, 39. As they reached Asad Ali Matubbar Para, some unidentified assailants opened fire on them.
Jahangir was shot in the head and died on the spot while Abbas sustained head injuries.
As of 3:30 PM, the deceased's body remained in the emergency department of Evercare Hospital in Chattogram with family members waiting outside to claim the body.
Efforts to contact the Raozan Police Station officer-in-charge for comments were unsuccessful, as he could not be reached on his official phone.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, and police are expected to investigate the matter further.
