'Library Awareness Campaign' launched in Rajshahi

A Library Awareness Campaign, organized by Librarian Voice, commenced in Rajshahi with in a vibrant and engaging atmosphere on Thursday.

The campaign, held at Masjid Mission Academy, aims to promote reading habits among school students and raise awareness about the importance of libraries. 

Over seventy students actively participated on the opening day and engaged in various educational and motivational activities.  

The inaugural session was chaired by the school's esteemed assistant head-teacher, Masum Ali, while the head-teacher, Abdur Sattar, attended as the chief guest. 

In his remarks, the head-teacher expressed his appreciation for the initiative, stating, "This unique endeavor by Librarian Voice is both timely and effective for our students. Libraries are vital for the progress of civilization." Other faculty members of the school were also present during the event.  

Librarian Voice representative Hamim Hosyn delivered an inspiring speech on the significance of libraries and reading in the modern era. Fellow representative Maria Marjan emphasized the value of books, describing them as "silent companions that speak to the heart," and encouraged students to develop a love for reading.  

The program was moderated by Hamim Hosyn, a student of Information Science and Library Management at Rajshahi University and a representative of Librarian Voice. Other activities were conducted by representatives Rubina Akter Lubna, Mehedi Hasan Shehzad, and Sudip Mondal.  

The Library Awareness Campaign will continue until February 3, 2025, and will be conducted in seven schools across Dhaka and Rajshahi. The initiative is overseen by Librarian Voice editors and advisors Dr. Kanak Monirul Islam and Nazibur Rahman Nazim.  

The program coordinator, Faisal Nomani, a student of Information Science and Library Management at Rajshahi University, expressed confidence that the campaign would inspire students to embrace reading and contribute to the development of a robust library culture. Librarian Voice hopes that this initiative will foster positive changes in the educational journeys of participating students.
