Woman dies in road accident on Dhaka-CTG hwy

A woman died as a microbus rammed her at Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj district on Sunday.

The accident took place at around 7 AM on the Dhaka-Chottgram Highway at Baushia area under the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Rubina Begum, 35, wife of Foyez Ahmed of Radhanagar village in Sunamganj's Jamalganj upazila. She lived at Baushia Shantinagar area along with family members and worked as a cook in a private industry.

Witnesses said that Rubina was rammed by a speedy micro-bus and left severely injured in front of the industry while crossing the road around 7 AM on the day. Locals took him to Gazaria Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Gazaria Bhaberchar Highway Police Outpost sub inspector (SI) Rashedul Islam confirmed the incident and said that they have recovered the body and detained the microbus driver Omar Faruk with his vehicle.

Legal steps will be taken in this regard, the SI added.
