Protest demands removal of 4 Panchagarh Judges

Activists of Panchagarh District Anti-discrimination Students� Movement on Sunday, staged a protest in the district's court area, demanding removal of four judges.

They later, besieged the courthouse area which made the judges, lawyers, staffs, police personnel stranded inside the court premises. Around 3 PM, however, they moved to Panchagarh-Dhaka highway and blocked it which caused severe traffic congestion.

The protestors gave a 24-hour ultimatum to remove four judges, including District and Sessions Judge Golam Faruk, Chief Judicial Magistrate Mehedi Hasan Mondal, Judges Ashrafuzzaman and Abu Hena, alleging them corrupted and involved in recruitment trade.

Earlier, a protest had brought out on the same ground three days ago, as no action had been taken in these days, they called out the programme and demanded immediate removal of the judges.

"If the accused judges are not removed by evening, we will continue our program," a protester and Panchagarh Anti discrimination students movement district co-ordinator Fazle Rabbi said.
