Protest withdrawn in Panchagarh after 5 hour

The activists of Panchagarh District Anti-discrimination Students� Movement withdrew their protest after a meeting with the District Commissioner (DC) on Sunday night. 

The decision made at around 8 PM after the DC Md Sabed Ali addressed the protesters.

Earlier, the activists staged a protest in the district's court area, demanding removal of four judges, including District and Sessions Judge Golam Faruk, Chief Judicial Magistrate Mehedi Hasan Mondal, Judges Ashrafuzzaman and Abu Hena, alleging them corrupted and involved in recruitment trade.

They later, besieged the courthouse area which made the judges, lawyers, staffs, police personnel stranded inside the court premises. Around 3 PM, however, they moved to Panchagarh-Dhaka highway and blocked it which caused severe traffic congestion.

The protestors gave a 24-hour ultimatum to remove four judges, 

Later, DC Md Sabed Ali came to court compound around 8 PM and talked to the protesters. 

The DC said, "The demands will take time to be met. However, the accused judges will not be involved in any kind of judicial proceedings and the process of their removal has been started. A probe body will also be formed to investigate the allegations and the necessary steps will be taken further."

Being assured, the protesters withdrew the protest and left the court compound and the highway with victory procession.
