2 arrested in school student Rabbi murder case

According to the press statement, the victim Rabbi Howlader was lured out of his home on January 19 over a prior conflict. He was later brutally murdered with sharp weapons, and his body was abandoned on a field embankment near an eidgah ground in Purba Rahmatpur village under Barishal's Airport Police Station jurisdiction.  

Rabbi�s family filed a missing report with Airport Police Station on January 21 after failing to locate him. The next morning, his older brother discovered Rabbi's body wrapped in a blue plastic sheet in the same area.  

Later that night, Rabbi�s brother, Sabbir Howlader, 26, lodged a murder case against four suspects: Sento Howlader, 47, from Bakshirkanda village, Rezaul Khan, 28, from Purba Rahmatpur, Sakib, 27, from the same village and Md. Sagar Khandakar, 28.  

Frustrated by the delay in arrests, local residents blocked the Barishal-Dhaka highway at Rahmatpur Bridge on Saturday morning, demanding the immediate apprehension of the suspects. The protest lasted for over two hours, during which they issued a 24-hour ultimatum to law enforcement.  

In response, the police apprehended the third suspect, Sakib, within three hours of the ultimatum, followed by RAB-8�s arrest of Sagar Khandakar within five hours.  

Officer-in-charge (OC) Zakir Hossain Sikder of the police dtation stated, �The arrests are part of our ongoing efforts to bring all the accused to justice. Two suspects have been detained so far, and operations are underway to apprehend the others.�
