24 ousted MP's cars among 44 to be auctioned in Ctg

Chattogram Custom House (CCH) has announced an auction of 44 vehicles, including 24 luxury cars, that were imported under duty-free facilities by former Awami League MPs. 

The auction is set to begin on February 12, with the vehicles being auctioned on February 16. Interested bidders can view the cars between February 2 and February 4.

The vehicles, which include 26 Japan-made Land Cruisers, five Toyota Harriers, two Toyota Rav 4s, one Toyota Esquire, and 10 Chinese-made heavy-duty Sino dump trucks, were left uncleared after the fall of the government on August 5. Under legal regulations, customs authorities decided to auction the vehicles as they were not cleared within the stipulated time.

Among the luxury vehicles, 24 Land Cruisers are brand new, imported by ousted MPs under duty-free provisions. The total reserve price for the auctioned cars has been set at approximately Tk 9.67 crore, with individual car prices varying based on model and year. For example, the price for a 2487cc 2022 Toyota Harrier is estimated at Tk 76,14,673, while a 2019 Toyota Esquire is valued at Tk 30,38,168.

The 10 heavy-duty Sino dump trucks, manufactured in China, are priced at around Tk 85 lakh each. Additional details on vehicle models, years, and reserve prices are available on the e-auction website.

Revenue Officer Bijon Kumar Talukder confirmed that interested participants can access the auction catalogue online from today and submit bids until 2 pm on February 16. The tender box will be opened on February 17 to finalize the auction process.
