Child’s body recovered in Noakhali

Police recovered a 18-month-old child�s body from a pond at Begumganj upazila in Noakhali district on Monday.

The deceased, Meyadul Islam, was son of Roni from Jahanabad village in the upazila.

According to family members, the child�s father took Meyadul to a nearby shop last Tuesday morning (January 21). The child returned home with his sister shortly afterward. However, Meyadul was last seen in the yard of their house at around 10:30 AM that day. He then went missing and remained at large for seven days. 

On Monday evening, the deceased�s aunt noticed his body floating in a pond next to the house and informed neighbours who subsequently informed police.

Being informed, police retrieved the body, confirmed Begumganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Liton Dewan and stated that further legal actions will be taken based on family�s complaints.
