Husband jailed for life in wife killing case in Rangpur

A Rangpur court on Tuesday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in 2015.

Rangpur Senior Sessions Court Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir delivered the verdict against Osman Goni from Barobigha village under Badarganj upazila's Mostofapur union.

The court also issued an arrest warrent against him as the convict remain at large.

According to the court public prosecutor (PP), Aftab Uddin, the victim, Manjuara Khatun, got married with Osman Goni a long time ago. Since then, they used to quarell often over family dispute. As sequel to it, in the night of September 25, 2015, Osman strangled his wife to death with the victim's scarf.

Later, the father of the victim filed a murder case with a the police station concerned.

Testifying 19 witnesses, the court found Osman guilty and sentenced him to life-term imprisonment, added the PP.
