Father, son arrested over killing suspected thief in Pirojpur

Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a murder case of a suspected thief at Bhandaria upazila in Pirojpur district on Monday.

The arrested two are Md Shahidul Islam Firoz, 55, and his son Mohammad Ali Manna, 20, from Pasharibunia village of the upazila. 

It was known that two thieves reportedly broke into Firoz's house through a window at around 2:30 AM on January 25 and attempted to steal cash and gold ornaments. When Firoz's son Manna tried to intervene, one of the thieves attacked him with a sharp weapon and manged to flee the scene. 

However, the another, identified as Selim Shah, was apprehended by the locals and severely beaten. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at around 3 AM on that night.

Following the incident, the victim's wife filed a murder case with Bhandaria Police Station naming unidentified individuals on Monday night.

Bhandaria Police Station officer-in-charge Ahmed Anwar confirmed the detention and added that the both arrested were sent to jail following a court on Tuesday.
