Ex-BCL leader held over student murder case in Rangpur

A local leader of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was arrested on charges of killing a student, Munna, during recent movement in Rangpur district on Tuesday.

The arrested is Al Amin Hosain.

Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (Crime) Mohammad Shibli Kaiser said that being tipped-off, a police team conducted drive at Babupara area of the city around 7:30 PM and arrested Al Amin. 

At that time, police have also seized a firearm from his possession, said the police official.

Mohammad Shibli also stated that Al Amin was directly involved in attacks on the students during the July uprising.

Alongside the case, multiple cases have been filed against the arrested, including the student murder case, Shibli Kaiser added.

Confirming the detention Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali said their efforts to arrest the other murder cases accused are underway.
