Four get life imprisonment in Pirojpur murder case

A court in Pirojpur on Wednesday sentenced four individuals to life term imprisonment in a case filed over killing a man in 2006.

The convicted are Abdul Jabbar Hiru, 70, Kokhan Molla, Khokan Molla, 50, Rafiqul Islam and Jasim Akon.

The District and Session Court Judge Muktagir Alam passed the order in the afternoon in presence of the two convicts.

The court also fined the convicted Tk 50 thousand each, in default, they will have to server six more months imprisonment.

According to the case statement, the victim Harun-ur-Rashid, 40, worked in Barishal accounts office as MLSS. At the night of the incident, he was heading home when he was attacked by the convicted persons near a canal of Bishnukathi village. The accused took cash amount of six thousand from him and left his body behind.

A local resident of the village, Idris Ali Khan discovered the body in October 27, 2006, and informed locals who then, informed police. 

Following the incident, a local UP member filed a murder case with the nearby police station on the same day.

After completing investigation, police filed a charge sheet against the four individuals.

Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Walid Hasan Babu confirmed the verdict.
