3 Bangladeshis held along Panchagarh border

The arrested individuals are Shri Nitai Chandra Roy, 35, from Alampur village in Thakurgaon district, his daughter Shri Bhumi Rani Shreya, 7, and the borker, Saddam Hossain, 30, from Shibchandi area of Tetulia upazila in the district.

According to a press release given by Nilphamari 56th BGB, the arrested were trying to infiltrate into India through sub-pillar no.9 of the main pillar no. 742 at Muhurijot border area under Satmera union in sadar upazila on Friday midnight. Being tipped-off, a BGB team from Magurmari Border Outpost (BOP) conducted a raid and arrested them. Broker Saddam tried to send them to India in exchange for Tk 30,000.

Nilphamari 56th BGB Commander Lt. Col. Sheikh Mohammad Badruddoza said that the detained were handed over to the police station concerned for further legal actions.

BGB is vigilant to prevent any illegal infiltration, smuggling and other illegal activities at the border, the Commander added.
