3 more held in Patuakhali over kidnapping trader

The arrested individuals were Abdullah Al Noman, 20, resident of Boro Dalima village under Nazirpur union of the upazila; Kawsar Bepari, 21, from Char Rayshaheb village under Chandradip union of the upazila and Bellal hossain, 21, from Char Miajan village under Chandradip union of the village.

They were arrested from separate raids in Bauphal, Gazipur and the capital.

Confirming the detantion, Bauphal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Atiqul Islam said that the trawler used to kidnap the trader, Shibu Banik, has been seized also. The arrested will be produced in the court.

Earlier on January 3, a group of masked 8-10 people entered the shop and took Shibu Banik hostage at gunpoint, tied up two shop employees at around 10 PM. Later, they looted more than Tk 5 lakh from the shop and took him captive in a trawler. 

About 52 hours after the kidnapping, police conducted a raid at Kachua village under Nazirpur union of the upazila and rescued Shibu Banik at 1:30 AM on January 5.

Earlier, five accused were arrested in this incident. With this, a total of eight individuals were arrested in the kidnapping case.
