Child drowns in Rajshahi pond

A child drowned in a pond at Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Omor Faruk, 10, son of Dolon Hossain and a resident of Kishorpur village under Pakuria union of the upazila. Omor was a student of class four.

According to deceased's family members, Omor went on fishing on a pond next to his house. While trying to catch fish, he drowned in the pond and disappeared. 

Later, his family members found him dead after searching the pond.

Former member of ward no. 7 of Pakuria union Abdul Quader Molla confirmed the child's death.

Bagha Police Station officer in-charge (OC) AFM Asaduzzaman said that permission to bury the body was given, as there was no complaint from anyone.

However, an unnatural death (UD) case has been filed in this regard, added the OC.
