A four-year-old child died after a private car caught fire while refueling at a filling station in Narayanganj's Rupganj on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred at the Rongdhonu CNG Filling Station at Karnogop area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

Deceased Jihan was the son of Sharif from the Rupshi area of Rupganj.

According to family members, Jihan was traveling with his mother and uncle in a private car from their home in Rupshi to his aunt’s house in Narsingdi.

On the way, they stopped at the Rongdhonu Filling Station in Karnogop to refuel.

While the gas was being refilled, Jihan remained inside the car, while his mother and uncle were outside. Suddenly, the car caught fire and the flames spread throughout the car.

Jihan was burnt to death as he trapped inside the vehicle.

As news spread, the child’s family members rushed to the filling station and made vandalism there.
