Public humiliation in Laxmipur for eating during ramadan

The incident occurred on Wednesday, when a group led by Abdul Aziz, the acting president of the local traders' association, conducted a raid in the Chawkbazar area of the city.

During the raid, some Muslims were found eating at Hindu-owned food establishments. As a form of punishment, they were forced to perform physical punishment involving holding one's ears and squatting repeatedly in public. 

Additionally, the group issued a warning to shopkeepers, stating that any establishment found serving food to individuals breaking their fast during the day would be shut down.

Abdul Aziz defended the actions, stating, "Some Muslims are eating at Hindu-owned shops without observing the fast, despite curtains being put up for privacy. We conducted this operation to uphold the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan and to ensure Muslims do not eat at Hindu shops during fasting hours. However, there are no restrictions for Hindus."

The incident has sparked mixed reactions, with some supporting the enforcement of religious practices during Ramadan, while others criticize the public humiliation and the targeting of specific communities. The local administration has yet to comment on the matter.
