Mother, 2 daughters among 4 killed in M'singh road accident

A tragic road accident in Mymensingh's Gouripur upazila claimed the lives of four people, including a mother and her two daughters when a bus collided with an autorickshaw.

The incident occurred at 6:30 AM on Sunday at Saheb Kachari Chandra Para Mor in Gouripur upazila on the Mymensingh-Kishoreganj highway.

The deceased have been identified as Kulsum Begum, 95, wife of Obaidur Rahman Akand from Durba Char Namabari village, Mosammat Dilruba, 40, wife of Manik Mia from Bhanganamari Char, and her two daughters, Riti, 14, and Priti, 7.

Two others, Shyamoli, 20, wife of Nazrul Islam from Bhanganamari, and Mahi, 14, son of Manik Mia, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Gouripur Police Station officer-in-charge Mirza Mazaharul Anwar confirmed the incident and stated that a bus traveling from Mymensingh to Kishoreganj hit a passenger autorickshaw heading toward Gouripur. Three people died instantly at the scene.

Local residents rescued the injured and transported them to the hospital, where another victim succumbed to injuries.

Authorities are investigating the accident, and further legal actions are expected.
