Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued a strong call for resistance against corruption and injustice, pledging to "tear corruption into pieces" and promising that Jamaat will become stronger than any form of oppression.
He made the remarks while addressing a memorial gathering in Pabna's Ishwardi upazila on Tuesday.
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman declared that wherever there is corruption, there will be protest and vowed that the fight for the freedom of the people will continue as long as oppression persists.
"Whether the tyranny is from the past or the present, however powerful it may be, Jamaat will be stronger. This organization fears no oppressor," he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a memorial program held in honour of Jamaat activist Mostafizur Rahman Kolom, at Alhaj Textile High School field in Ishwardi at 3:00 PM.
Dr. Shafiqur emphasized the importance of building a corruption-free Bangladesh based on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an.
"The Qur’an is the greatest book for humanity and through its guidance, Islam will prevail in Bangladesh. We will destroy the web of corruption and remove every trace of corrupt individuals from the country," he declared.
Calling on party members to be prepared for ongoing struggle, he added, "You must be ready to fight against injustice, irregularities, and corruption. This movement will continue. The day I fell off the stage, many of you were distressed. I pray that if Allah chooses, I may be accepted as a martyr during my service. Keep praying for me."
Referring to the recent tragic crash involving students of Milestone School and College in Dhaka, Dr. Shafiqur expressed doubt over the official death toll of 27, suggesting the actual number may be higher.
"We pray for the departed souls and stand in full solidarity with the injured and the grieving families. As an organization, we will continue to provide all necessary support—including financial aid and blood donations," he assured.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Shafiqur arrived in Ishwardi by helicopter after visiting the grave of Jamaat’s Dakop upazila Ameer, Abu Sayeed, in Khulna.
He then paid respects at another grave in Char Mirkamari and visited the deceased’s family.
He also offered special prayers for the victims of the Milestone plane crash, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls.
Several senior leaders were present during the event, including Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Pabna district Ameer Prof. Abu Taleb Mondal, former district Ameer Maulana Abdur Rahim, Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Zohurul Islam Khan, Principal Maulana Md.
